The main causes of edge cracking include the following.
(1) The drying speed is too fast.
(2) The mouth edge of the vessel is too thin to bear the external force.
(3) If a ceramic vessel begins to crack as soon as it is made and before it has gone through any significant drying stage, it is possible that clay has been used too often. There may also be an excess of additional fillers (clinker or sand) in the sludge. In some cases, recycled or remixed sludge will become unusable due to being used too many times, such as the sludge that has been drawn repeatedly on the drawing machine.
